One thing we did to fill our time this summer was to volunteer once a week at Healing Hands International. Most weeks we helped out with the MAGI boxes that are sent to kids in impoverished nations at Christmastime. Some weeks the kids filled ziploc bags with candy to go in the boxes, some weeks they wrote letters to go in the boxes or decorated the outside of them, some weeks we sorted clothing and put together outfits to go in them, and a few times we got to fill the boxes up with all of the goodies and get them ready to be delivered. We all really enjoyed volunteering and it was definitely a worthwhile way to spend our time.

school store helpers
Right before school started in August we did our annual School Store at church. Judson is still more interested in playing than helping, but the girls really enjoy helping with this event every year. All of the kids also enjoy the food, bounce houses, and balloon animals that they get every year.

This was an especially exciting year for back to school since Judson starts Kindergarten this year and all 3 of our kids will be at Granger. Judson is really excited to be a big kid and finally get to go to school at Granger and do all of the things he has watched his sisters do over the years. His teacher this year will be Mrs. Sauce, who is outgoing and bubbly. I think they will get along just great! We had to rush a little to make it to all three classrooms in time, so I guess that's why I didn't get pictures of the girls. Kendall has Mrs. Fewell and Mrs. Jones, both of whom we have heard great things about, and Avery has Mrs. Slye, Mrs. Johnson, and Ms. Durrett. We have heard great things about Avery's teachers as well, especially her homeroom/science teacher Mrs. Slye and her ELA teacher Mrs. Johnson, so she is excited to start the year and be TOP DOG of the school!
