The 12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum
We had a fun family evening at the Dallas Arboretum seeing the "12 Days of Christmas" exhibit. I'm not sure how we have gone this long without seeing this exhibit since they have it every year, but it was amazing! There were 12 glass gazebos spread throughout the arboretum each decorated with items from a different day of the song. The exhibits were very elaborate and beautiful. They also had a fun photo booth set up and lights strung throughout, which made for a nice atmosphere.
Festival of Trees Gala
We had such a fun, special night at the Festival of Trees Gala benefitting Christian Care Centers and Alzheimer’s. Thanks to our friends the McKNights, we had seats at a front row table to see the guest entertainers Mercy Me (squeal!). Loved everything they sang and hearing lead singer Bart Millard tell about his faith journey and the stories behind the songs.
Thanksgiving
This year we hosted Thanksgiving for my family at our house. It was a small gathering with just our family, Mom and Dad, and Amy, but we had a nice time. We enjoyed delicious food as always, had a nice time visiting, and even took a walk and played some football in the greenbelt. We are blessed and thankful!
Dinosaur World
Over the Thanksgiving Break, we attempted a trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, but it had just closed when we arrived and they wouldn't let any more cars in. So instead, we went over to Dinosaur World there in Glen Rose to check that out. The kids enjoyed seeing all the animatronic dinosaurs and playing at the little playground. We also got to see a little wildlife including a deer that came up to the pond as we were standing there looking at the koi in it. It was a fun little adventure and I'm glad we did it before the kids were all to old to enjoy it.
Turkey Trot
Kendall and Judson participated in the annual Turkey Trot at Granger the week before Thanksgiving break. Judson ran half a mile and Kendall ran a full mile. This year went better for Judson since he didn't trip and fall. Last year he was so disappointed that that happened and he fell behind a lot of the other boys. I'm proud of both of them for running hard and giving it their best!
Visit to the Stables
Yesterday we took the kids out to the stables where my sister boards her horse Kola. They all got a chance to ride her, and then we took a little tour of the place and got to see the other animals including the other horses, several sweet dogs, some chickens and two pigs. Judson also got the chance to help give one of the horses a bath while the girls were having their turns to ride Kola.
