Unfortunately, our third and final day of clinic in Quebrada Seca was a bust. There was a large portion of the road that had been washed out due to rains, and we ended up stuck on the road, not moving for 2 hours. Luckily our driver was able to turn the bus around and take us back to the hotel. Scott and a few others in the group got picked up by one of the MUR troop carriers to take an alternate route to Quebrada Seca to go get all of our supplies from the school. Stacy Stacy offered to take the kids and I and some others on a tour of Santa Rosa since we now had a free day. We went to the cemetery, a park, the town square, and the cathedral. Then Stacy and I took our kids to eat at Pollo El Bunny and then went back to her house to hang out. The kids were so excited to get another day to play with their friends and I was excited not to have to entertain them at the hotel all day!
Since the road back to San Pedro Sula was impassible, it was decided we would skip the excursions on Friday and instead, spend the morning in Santa Rosa then drive to Sigatepeque, which is just a short drive from San Pedro. We spent our last morning in Santa Rosa getting smoothies at a coffee shop and then playing at the park. After lunch we loaded up the bus and spent the afternoon driving through the mountains to Sigatepeque. We arrived in time to check out all the neat things at our hotel before dinner- a fountain and water slide, a playground, and a little zoo with parrots, macaws, peacocks, and monkeys. It was different than the usual ending to our Honduras trips, but it was a fun little adventure to cap off a great week of serving.
