Honduras 2018- Part 1

We were so excited to go back to Honduras for the 4th year in a row to spend our spring break working with Mission Upreach to bring healing and God’s love to the people of Western Honduras. ❤️    Our first full day there we spent some time at the Moses Project for young men and attended worship services with our brothers and sisters at Bario Belen here in Santa Rosa. Then on Monday, we set up for the medical brigade we are doing this week in the village of El Porvenir. Our family also had a really neat experience on Sunday morning meeting a local family that we have been helping over the past two years. In 2016, Avery and Kendall decided to give some money they had saved up from birthdays, chores, etc to Mission Upreach. At almost the exact time they gave the money, the staff here in Santa Rosa encountered a little girl who was severely malnourished due to medical problems that cause her not to be able to swallow solid foods. At the advice of the doctor at the medical Brigade, the staff went out and bought a case of Ensure for her to drink for nourishment. The price of the case was almost exactly the amount that the girls had given. We felt this was completely providential and was such tangible evidence of God at work. We have continued to send money each month to provide food for the little girl and we continually pray for her and her family. So it was such an awesome experience to be able to see her in person and meet her mother and siblings. Her mother was so appreciative and said she prays for our family frequently. She even gave us a bag of fresh eggs as a gesture of appreciation. We are really looking forward to helping more Hondurans this week and seeing how God will work. We have found that oftentimes our encounters with the people here bless us as much or more than we bless them!
