To Avery on Your 9th Birthday

Happy 9th birthday precious Avery!  From the moment you were born, you have brought Daddy and I such joy, laughter, and pride.  God created you so special, and every year we get to see more and more of your personality, uniqueness, and gifts shine through.  You are a great daughter, sister, friend, student, musician, helper, and leader.  You love your family and friends, are always kind and considerate to others, and demonstrate great character.  In your ninth year of life you continued to be a straight A student , an excellent writer, and participated once again in the GATES program at school.  At the end of 2nd grade, you artwork was selected to be in the district art show, and at the beginning of 3rd grade you received the Kid with Character Award for the trait of responsibility.  In 3rd grade you also received special awards in music and PE for being an outstanding student.  You continued to take piano lessons with Memaw and have moved through several piano books.  You also continued taking gymnastics/tumbling classes and learned how to do a back bend kick over and a front limber.  One new activity that you began was voice lessons with Mrs. Jacobs.  You really enjoy singing,  and you worked very hard to prepare for your Christmas recital.  You sang "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables and "Happy Holidays."  Despite your nerves and the fact that it was your first time to sing alone onstage, you did absolutely amazing and got lots of compliments on your performance. Another new activity you got to participate in this year was the Battle of the Books competition at school, in which you read 9 out of the 10 books on the list, several over 300 pages.  You also made the UIL oral reading team and did very well at the district competition.  Last not not least, you participated in LTC small chorus this year at church.  You did a great job on your solo parts and your chorus received a gold rating.  A few more firsts for you this year included skiing with Daddy and I all the way from the top of the mountain in Red River, getting braces in February, and going on your first foreign mission trip to Honduras, where you helped with the craft station and had a role in the skit every day.  Overall, it was a big year for Avery Bedichek!  We are so proud of your Bible knowledge, your memorization of our theme verse (Eph 2:8), your love for God, and your heart for the poor and needy.  You are truly "growing up in the Lord," and that makes our hearts so happy!  We cannot wait to see what God will do in you and through you as you grow and mature.  We love you!
