Fall Break at Beaver's Bend

For fall break we made the trip up to Beaver's Bend/Broken Bow Lake with my parents to enjoy a relaxing, fun family weekend. We stayed in a gorgeous cabin that backed up to a creek that we had a lot of fun exploring.  Judson kept almost giving me a heart attack trying to jump from rock to rock and across the creek, but somehow he didn't have any major falls and came away mostly unscathed.  Since we went in October this year, we were able to enjoy being outdoors more- taking walks, sitting on the porch and around the fire pit, riding the train and playing at the playground in the state park. We did rent a boat one day though and it was plenty warm for that as well.  The kids loved tubing (minus one scary moment when Scott and Jud flipped over and Jud ended up trapped under the tube) and swimming in the lake.  We also really enjoyed sitting out and looking at the stars at night and also having a sweet time of worship outside on Sunday morning.  Since our trip was right around my Mom's birthday, we took the opportunity to have a special birthday dinner for her one night.  If I remember correctly, Scott grilled steaks for dinner and then the girls and I had baked a chocolate Reese's pieces cake with peanut butter frosting that we brought with us. It truly was the perfect long-weekend getaway.
