The story of Iris

In June of this year, the girls decided that they wanted to donate the money in their "Spend" envelopes, which included chore money they had saved, birthday money, etc, to Mission Upreach.  One of the missionaries, Stacy Stacy, had come into town for a visit, so Scott gave her the money to take back to Honduras.  When she called and checked in with everyone in Honduras a day or two later, she heard the story of Iris, a 9 yr old girl who was sick with pneumonia and severely malnourished whom Donna and a church team had encountered at a medical brigade that week.  The complete story is told below by Donna Waldron, but basically, the amount that our girls gave was almost the exact amount that Phil had spent on the case of Ensure, hoping it would provide some good nourishment for Iris and help nurse her back to health.  We were so amazed at God's timing in all of this and how he worked through our 8 and a 10 yr old daughters to help provide healing to another little girl thousands of miles away.  It was definitely a highlight of our year and provided such tangible evidence for our family that God is alive and working in the world, and that he can use each one of us to further his kingdom, regardless of what our age, gifts, talents or resources may be!

At 9 yrs old, Iris weighed only 20 lbs and was very sick with pneumonia

Iris, several months later, looking healthy and like a completely different child!
