Back in January, Amy and I began planning a special family trip to Yellowstone for Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. After months of planning and anticipating, we finally got to go in August! Mom and Dad and our family flew out of Love Field to Salt Lake City, UT and then rented cars and made the drive from there to Emigrant, MT. Since we arrived in Salt Lake in the afternoon, we only drove as far as Rexburg, ID to spend the night and made the final leg of our trip the following day. Our first stop was at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in the town of West Yellowstone, where we had great views of the animals. After lunch at a pizza place in which Kendall lost two teeth, we drove on into Emigrant and Mom and Dad picked up Amy at the airport in Bozeman. Our home for the week had a few quirks like a freezing lower floor where Mom and Dad stayed and super steep stairs up to the loft where the kids slept, but the views from the deck out back were amazing and totally made up for any shortcomings. It was a good location that was 30 min or less from the park entrance. I probably don't have the order of our activities correct since we packed in so much, but it really doesn't matter. We saw Mammoth Hot Springs and some elk and big horn sheep in that area, Tower Falls, Upper and Lower Falls, the Grand Prismatic Spring with its amazing rainbow colors, and Swan Lake.
