Granger always puts on a moving Veteran's Day program and this year was no different. Plus, as a Stuco Officer, Avery got to help lead the assembly. She did a great job and all the kids were excellent performing their songs from the different branches of the military. Granger also had a beautiful display of the red ceramic poppies the kids had made in art class on the front lawn and in the courtyard of the school.

50's Day and Veteran's Day

Saying goodbye
the kids with their stuffed dogs that Mimi and Poppi bought for them to help cheer them up
On November 1, 2016 we had to say goodbye to our sweet lab Josie. Her health had been declining over the past year and we knew this day was rapidly approaching, but it was still sad to say goodbye to our first baby who was there when all of our other babies were born. Even though she caused us quite a bit of grief, especially in the early years, with her destructive chewing and her escape-artist antics, she was very sweet and did provide us with a lot of laughs and fun memories. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts. We will miss you Josie!

Happy Halloween!
This year for Halloween Granger had their first annual Storybook Character Parade. Avery and her friend Rienn helped make their own costumes and went as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Its hard to tell with their dark hair, but they spray painted it blue to match their tutus. Judson went as the cutest Harry Potter you've ever seen. His glasses absolutely killed me! And then Kendall, our fan of all things Harry Potter, went as Hermione Granger. They all had fun with their costumes and I enjoyed watching their little parade in front of the school to show them off.
For Halloween night and trick-or-treating, Kendall stayed in her Hermione costume, but Judson and Avery both changed into something else. Judson went as the red Power Ranger, and Avery went as a donut- again a coordinated costume with her BFF Rienn. As usual, we gathered with neighbors for pizza and then took the kids around trick or treating together.
October events
Avery decided to play volleyball again this fall with her team "Dig It" from last spring. She didn't have her close friends on the team this time, but she enjoyed playing with many of the same girls and getting to know them better. She improved her skills, becoming a very consistent server and a player that her team could always count on to hustle and be reliable. We had so much fun watching her games and cheering her on!
Avery and Kendall both had Grandparents' Day this month. They are always so lucky to have both sets of grandparents join them for this special day!
This month we also used the gift certificate to Bass Hall that we gave Scott's parents for Christmas to buy us all tickets to Phantom of the Opera. We took them to dinner in Sundance Square at Cantina Laredo and then enjoyed the amazing show at The Bass. The sets (complete with a "falling" chandelier!), music, and acting were all excellent and made for an awesome first experience there. It was fun to get dressed up for a special night on the town and spend some quality time together.

Soccer season!
In Pre-K, Jud played flag football and then t-ball with i9 sports, and this fall he decided to try out soccer. I think he will really like the fast pace of the game, and all that running will be a great way for him to burn some energy! He did good in his first practice and game and even won the sportsmanship award medal this week. Way to go Jud! We are looking forward to watching you play all season!
Byron Nelson HS Homecoming Parade
Since Avery is a StuCo Officer this year, she was expected to help with Granger's Homecoming float in the BNHS Homecoming Parade. They met at Beck Elementary after school to decorate the float and then got to ride on it during the parade. Any Granger kids 2nd grade or above who wanted to ride on the float were allowed to, so Kendall rode on it as well with her friend Sophia. Scott and I stood with Judson to watch the parade and help him gather candy that was being thrown to the crowd. It was a fun evening and neat to see the community come together in support of the Bobcats!
Granger Mother-son Picnic
In September Jud and I got to go to the Granger Mother-Son Picnic at Roanoke Skate Park. We had a picnic dinner on a blanket, he played in and on all the skate park apparatus, we played ball a little, and he got to check out the inside of a police car and firetruck. The weather was great and it was a fun night for just the two of us!
Uncle Doug said this better be the only time he ever sees Judson in the back of a police car!

Jud had fun playing ball in this area of the skate park, but it sure got tiring having to hoist him out of there!
